🚨 IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE USING OUR PLATFORM
Cryptocurrency investments carry substantial risk and are not suitable for all investors. You could lose your entire investment. This Risk Disclosure Statement is a legal requirement of our Terms & Conditions and must be read in full before you connect your wallet or deposit any funds.
By using ChainBridge-Investments, you confirm that you: (a) fully understand and accept these risks; (b) have sufficient financial resources to bear the potential loss of your entire investment; and (c) will not hold us liable for any losses incurred.
1. General Investment Risk
Investing in cryptocurrencies and digital assets is highly speculative. Unlike traditional investments (stocks, bonds, real estate), cryptocurrency markets are:
- Extremely volatile – prices can swing 20-50% or more in a single day.
- Largely unregulated – fewer investor protections than regulated securities markets.
- Subject to market manipulation – "pump and dump" schemes, wash trading, and spoofing are known risks.
- Illiquid at times – you may not be able to sell or withdraw your assets quickly without significant price impact.
- No guaranteed returns – past performance does not predict future results.
YOU COULD LOSE YOUR ENTIRE INVESTMENT. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose. Consider consulting a licensed financial advisor before investing.
2. Smart Contract & Technical Risk
Our platform operates using smart contracts on the Ethereum, BSC, Solana, and Polygon blockchains. Smart contracts are software code and, like all software, may contain bugs, vulnerabilities, or unintended behaviors.
- Audits are not guarantees: Even audited smart contracts can have undiscovered vulnerabilities. No audit can guarantee 100% security.
- Exploits and hacks: Malicious actors may find and exploit vulnerabilities, potentially draining funds from the smart contract.
- Upgrade risks: We may upgrade smart contracts. You must review and accept new terms for any upgraded contracts.
- Admin key risks: Certain contracts may have administrative controls that could be abused (though we take security seriously).
📜 Historical Context
Smart contract exploits have resulted in billions of dollars in losses across DeFi platforms (e.g., The DAO, Poly Network, Ronin Bridge). While we take every precaution, we cannot eliminate this risk entirely.
3. Blockchain Network Risks
3.1 Network Congestion & Transaction Delays
During periods of high activity, blockchain networks can become congested, leading to:
- Delayed transactions – deposits or withdrawals may take hours or even days to confirm.
- Failed transactions – your transaction may fail (but gas fees may still be consumed).
- Escalating gas fees – you may need to pay higher than expected fees to prioritize your transaction.
3.2 Blockchain Forks
Blockchains can undergo "forks" – major upgrades or splits in the network. Forks may:
- Create competing chains and assets (e.g., ETH vs ETC).
- Cause temporary network instability.
- Result in replay attacks if not handled properly.
- Affect the value of your assets.
3.3 Chain-Specific Risks
- Ethereum (ETH): High gas fees, MEV (Miner Extractable Value) front-running, and smart contract complexity.
- Binance Smart Chain (BSC): More centralized validator set, potential regulatory scrutiny on Binance.
- Solana (SOL): History of network outages and congestion issues; less mature DeFi ecosystem.
- Polygon (MATIC): Bridge dependencies to Ethereum; potential centralization risks.
4. Wallet & Custody Risk
ChainBridge-Investments is a non-custodial platform. This means:
- We never hold, access, or control your private keys or funds.
- You are solely responsible for the security of your wallet and private keys.
- If you lose your private keys or seed phrase, your funds are permanently and irrecoverably lost.
- If your wallet is compromised (hacked, phished, or otherwise), we cannot reverse or recover any transactions.
- We do not offer custody, escrow, or recovery services.
🔐 Security Best Practices
- Never share your seed phrase or private keys – no legitimate service will ever ask for them.
- Use a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor) for large investments.
- Enable all security features of your wallet software.
- Be vigilant against phishing scams – always verify you are on the correct website.
- Use a dedicated wallet for interacting with DeFi platforms, separate from your main holdings.
5. Regulatory & Legal Risk
Cryptocurrency regulations vary significantly by jurisdiction and are rapidly evolving. Risks include:
- Sudden regulatory changes: A country may ban or restrict crypto investments, affecting your ability to use our platform.
- Sanctions compliance: We are required to block wallets associated with sanctioned addresses. Your wallet could be flagged even if you are not the sanctioned party.
- Tax liability: You are solely responsible for reporting and paying taxes on any investment gains. We do not provide tax advice.
- Platform restrictions: We may be forced to restrict access for users in certain jurisdictions without prior notice.
- Legal uncertainty: Some jurisdictions have not yet clarified whether crypto investment platforms like ours are legal – you bear the risk of using our platform from your location.
6. Liquidity & Withdrawal Risk
There is no guarantee that you will be able to withdraw your funds quickly or at a fair price. Liquidity risks include:
- Low trading volume: Some tokens may have low liquidity, making it difficult to exit large positions.
- Slippage: Large withdrawals may cause significant price impact, resulting in less value received than expected.
- Withdrawal delays: During network congestion or security reviews, withdrawals may be temporarily paused.
- Smart contract limitations: The investment smart contract may have lock-up periods during which you cannot withdraw.
7. Counterparty & Third-Party Risk
Our platform relies on various third-party services, each introducing its own risks:
- Blockchain node providers (Infura, QuickNode, Helius): If these services fail or restrict access, you may not be able to interact with the blockchain.
- Wallet providers (MetaMask, Phantom, TrustWallet): Your wallet software may have bugs or security vulnerabilities.
- Oracle services (if used): Price feeds may be inaccurate or manipulated.
- Auditors: Smart contract audits are only as good as the auditor – no audit catches everything.
8. Operational & Technical Risks
- Website downtime: Our website may be unavailable due to maintenance, DDoS attacks, or technical failures.
- Front-end attacks: Hackers could compromise our website to display fraudulent information or wallet connection prompts.
- DNS hijacking: An attacker could redirect traffic to a fake version of our site.
- Human error: We may make mistakes in configuration, communication, or smart contract deployment.
